This page is for those who want to go to the Alps to declare their intentions and then they can make plans amongst themselves on specific dates, venues, transport arrangements, objectives, etc

Due to the effects of climate change many of the higher, snowy, alpine venues and routes are becoming more unpredictable, difficult or dangerous in peak summer.

The Dolomites in Italy and Bregalia/Grisons in Switzerland have been suggested as suitable venues as they provide snow and ice free rock routes which are likely to be less affected.

Please use the comments to share transport details and mention anything about your objectives, expectations or levels of experience. The more info you give the better. Planning is best done face to face, on other trips, at the climbing wall or in the pub/cafe.

We seem to have 4 Dolomites trips running this year on different dates.
Very good to see so many people in the club getting out this year. If anyone on this group wants to join them see below.

16th - 26th July . Ian and party are going to Cortina. If you want to go these dates you’ll need to find accommodation for your climbing team. The chalet they have is now full I think.

22 July - 2 Aug Max and Charlene are going to the western side for areas such as Vajolet towers. They are camping so there is potential to join them on the campsite. See comments section below and contact Max if you want to join them.

28 Jul-11th August. Jon and Dan are heading to the dolomites initially and possibly then on into Switzerland depending on weather and glacial conditions. All welcome including beginners. Contact Jon Coutts for more info.
