Climbing Walls

WMC members are spread over a wide area and use a variety of walls, with greater use during the winter when it’s less favourable to get outside during the week.

Below are our usual visit times, but check on the Facebook group and WhatsApp groups for the latest on who is going when, inc. ad-hoc visits to other climbing walls such as the Golden Gecko in Romsey, and Calshot.

Tuesdays At Parthian

Parthian is near Southampton just off the M271.  Contact   Max Streeton   if you plan to come.

It is a large climbing wall opened in 2022 with roped climbing, auto belays and a large bouldering area.

Tuesday night from around 7pm is the usual time to find Wessex people there.  We’re a friendly bunch and always willing to climb with new faces (mixing abilities isn’t a problem indoors) and it’s always possible to swap around climbing partners halfway through the evening.

Thursdays at The Project

The Project Climbing Centre is in Poole.  Contact is Alan Blanchflower

The Project Climbing Centre is a dedicated climbing and training facility run by climbers for climbers.

The Project is in the Dolphin Centre in Poole. There is only bouldering at the moment, but with (long-term) plans to include roped climbing too. WMC members qualify for concession prices (£6 standard, bundles and monthly membership available), so bring your membership card. There’s generally people there from around 7.30.

Wednesdays at QE

The Edge climbing wall is at the QE in Wimborne. It comprises of a roped climbing area and a bouldering cave.

Members meet there on Wednesdays. For more details, please contact Martin Saberton or join the WhatsApp group.

Thursday daytime at the Boulder Shack

For those who a free during the day there is the ‘older boulder’ session here. It cost only £5 and you also get a free drink. A friendly session which despite the name is open to people of any age.
